I'm wearing my pedant's hat again here, but I'm not entirely happy about the idea of "a series of books by Stanley Gibbons". Those books weren't by Stanley Gibbons – at least, not in the same way that (for example) Oliver Twist was by Charles Dickens. They were catalogues produced by his company – Stanley Gibbons & Co. – in the same way as the Argos catalogue is produced by a company called Argos.
I doubt if anyone would have been led astray by the wording of the question; it just strikes me as (since we're on the subject of hobby horses) a bit sloppy.
According to Wikipedia, Stanley Gibbons's business took off when, in 1863, "he was fortunate enough to purchase from two sailors a sackful of rare Cape of Good Hope triangular stamps."
